XNU is the computer OS (OS) kernel that Apple Inc. has developed since December 1996 to use in Mac OS X (now macOS). It is released as free and open-source software as part of the Darwin OS. This OS is the foundation for Apple TV Software, iOS, and iPadOS OSes.
